Although all plants will benefit from the addition of Co2 it is not an essential element and many plants may be grown without it. These include species such as cryptocornes, Anubias, several long grasses or Vallis, Amazon Swordplants, and various mosses.
Co2 is generally available in small amounts in all aquariums. However, plants gain from the addition of Co2 and combined with the correct lighting and substrates the most amazing results may be obtained with the most diverse species of plants. Growth levels in all plants will be enhance by the addition of the gas and will enable the aquarist to make full use of all the plant species available.
