Some time ago we wrote an article entitled ‘Why we don’t stock LED Lighting’ because we were constantly being asked why we didn’t by our customers. In that article we explained that despite testing several LEDs we had not yet found one that passed our stringent tests, set by professional aquascaper and founder of The Green Machine, James Findley: try it test it and try it again.

Hardscape Buying Guide

Hardscape Buying Guide
Hardscape is a vital element in aquascaping: it is the bones of the aquascape – if you get the hardscape right the rest of the scape will fall into place easily and effectively. We have a very wide variety of hardscape so we thought we would create this Hardscape Buying Guide to help you navigate our selection and make the right choice for your aquascape.

Terminology
Hardscape = anything used to form the structure of your aquascape – normally wood or/and stone.
Layout Materials = another name for hardscape.
Inert = will not affect the water chemistry of your aquascape.

Quality Control
• All our hardscape is tested and suitable for use in aquascaping.
• We only select hardscape pieces that are a suitable size and shape for aquascaping.
• Our range of hardscape is wide and varied so you can achieve a huge variety of looks.
• We have a large amount of each type of hardscape to ensure that there is always a lot of each material to choose from.
• This means that there is a much higher chance that you will find the ‘perfect piece’ for your aquascape.

Takashi Amano, founder of Aqua Design AmanoThe name ‘Takashi Amano’ has become synonymous with the Nature Aquarium and aquascaping.  Takashi Amano was born in 1954 in Niigata, Japan. Mr Amano started his career as a famous Japanese landscape photographer in 1975.

After visiting the world’s largest tropical rainforests in the Amazon, Borneo, West Africa and the pristine forests of Japan, Mr Takashi Amano produced a range of stunning photographs entitled ‘Untouched Nature”.

As a photographer, Takashi Amano works with iconic large format cameras to capture the minute, intricate details of nature.  This ability to appreciate nature’s fine detail is expressed clearly in Mr Amano’s famous quote – ‘To know Mother Nature, is to love her smallest creations’.

Most experienced aquascapers or Nature Aquarium enthusiasts will know how frustrating it can be when you are completely in love with your aquascape: you have spent months perfecting it, trimming it, tweaking it and nurturing it, only to find that the plant growth starts to slow, and the lush greens are not quite as lush as they once were.

Fear not!  You do not need to re-scape your aquarium, you can simply refresh the nutrient supply to the plants easily and quickly using ADA Multi Bottom and ADA Iron Bottom.
